As a Black woman, mother, entrepreneur, and media personality, I’ve experienced firsthand the challenges of balancing personal responsibilities with professional aspirations. Like many women, I faced societal expectations, economic challenges, and the pressure to succeed while raising a family. Yet, these obstacles have only strengthened my resolve to break barriers, defy the odds, and inspire other women to do the same.
My journey began in Detroit’s inner city, where I grew up watching my parents work tirelessly to provide for our family. Their dedication ignited a fire in me to overcome generational curses and build a life of financial stability and success. I went from being a mother to an entrepreneur, founding Care First Wellness Med Spa, a sanctuary for women of color to feel empowered, represented, and valued in the world of healthcare and wellness.
Empowerment Through Motherhood and Entrepreneurship
For many Black women, the hardships of motherhood fuel the fire for entrepreneurship. Balancing family and career often feels impossible, but being a mother teaches you resilience, leadership, and the ability to multitask like no other. These skills are the foundation of any successful business, and I’ve seen countless women use their experiences as mothers to build thriving enterprises.
When I started my entrepreneurial journey, I wanted to be the representation I didn’t always see—an unapologetic, unbreakable Black woman who thrives despite the challenges. I’ve been blessed to turn my passion for service and wellness into a flourishing business, and I am committed to helping other women do the same.
Beating the Odds: Overcoming Financial and Societal Challenges
Growing up in an economically challenged environment, I understand the struggle to achieve financial stability. Many of us are burdened with debt, lacking resources, and facing barriers to opportunities that others take for granted. Despite these challenges, I was determined to rise above, fueled by the belief that I could create a better future for myself, my family, and my community.
Building Care First Wellness Med Spa was not just about creating a business—it was about fostering an environment where women, especially Black women, could find the support, empowerment, and healthcare they deserve. With over 20 years in the healthcare and beauty industries, I’ve become a leading voice for representation, particularly for women of color who often feel unseen in these spaces.
A Commitment to Service: Community, Mental Health, and Advocacy
My passion for community service and healthcare extends far beyond my business. I’ve been honored with the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award for my work in feeding the homeless and building food distribution centers. I believe in giving back, and my recent mission trip to Africa was driven by a deep calling to deliver healthcare to underserved communities. For me, this isn’t just charity—it’s a movement to create lasting impact and change.
I’m also deeply committed to mental health advocacy, particularly for Black women. We carry so much on our shoulders, often neglecting our own well-being. That’s why I’ve made it my mission to open up conversations around mental health, reduce stigma, and provide resources for healing. I discuss these topics in my book, The Unbreakable Woman: Embracing Resilience in Every Season, encouraging women to prioritize their mental health while navigating life’s challenges.
Empowering Women Through Media and Events
As a media personality, I’ve expanded my platform to further empower women through storytelling. My upcoming podcast, Unboxed and Fearless with Dr. Natasha, will tackle themes of health, empowerment, and overcoming trauma. I believe that by sharing our stories, we can inspire others to break free from societal expectations and embrace their multi-passionate, multi-talented selves.
Most recently, I hosted a successful women’s empowerment event, featuring Apryl Jones, where we gathered to uplift and inspire each other. The energy was electric, and it reaffirmed my belief in the strength of Black women coming together to support one another. This event was a testament to the power of community and the importance of creating spaces where we can thrive.
Thriving Beyond Barriers: A Call to Action
I want every woman, particularly Black women, to know that they are unbreakable. No matter the odds, we have the power to rise above, to create our own opportunities, and to lead with purpose. Whether through entrepreneurship, community service, or personal growth, we can and will continue to break barriers.
