Looks like there’s some new housing on the horizon in Harbor Gateway! According to a recent notice from the City of Los Angeles, the properties located at 1608-1610 W. 218th Street, just a short distance from Western Avenue, are slated for redevelopment. This information comes from a report on Urbanize LA.
The buzz is that Rooster Fish, LLC is proposing to subdivide the 18,000 square feet of land currently occupied by a few rental homes. The plan? To construct eleven small lot houses, each with its own attached accessory dwelling unit (ADU). This adds a significant amount of new living space to the area.
If the rendering is accurate, these won’t be typical houses. They are envisioned as modern, four-story buildings with a white and orange stucco exterior, accented by tile. Each is expected to include balconies, patios, rooftop decks, and garages.
This development is located just southwest of another project on Carson Street, where a 55-unit apartment building is under construction. Urbanize LA also reported on another small lot subdivision at 15812 S. Vermont Avenue, highlighting the trend of new housing developments in Harbor Gateway. 22 small lot houses unwrapped at 15812 S. Additionally, construction is underway for a $1.7-billion makeover of Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, located further east in West Carson. LA County PW Projects provides details on various public works projects in Los Angeles County, including those in the Harbor Gateway area.
So, if you’re in Harbor Gateway, expect some changes on W. 218th Street!
