A Legacy of Leadership, Service, and Compassion

Today, we honor the remarkable life of former President Jimmy Carter, who passed away at the age of 100.

Born on October 1, 1924, in Plains, Georgia, Carter was the eldest of four children, with two sisters, Gloria and Ruth, and a brother, Billy.

He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1946, the same year he married Rosalynn Smith.

As the 39th President of the United States, Carter was a steadfast advocate for peace and human rights.

His leadership brought about historic achievements, including the Camp David Accords, a groundbreaking peace agreement between Egypt and Israel, and his efforts to promote energy conservation during a challenging era.

Carter’s dedication to service extended far beyond his time in office.

He founded The Carter Center, an organization committed to advancing human rights, eradicating disease, and fostering democracy worldwide.

He also devoted much of his post-presidential years to building homes for families in need through Habitat for Humanity.

In 2002, his tireless efforts to promote global peace and justice earned him the Nobel Peace Prize.

Jimmy Carter’s life was defined by humility, faith, and compassion.

He leaves behind a powerful legacy of service and an enduring example of how one life can inspire countless others.

Our deepest condolences go out to his family and loved ones during this time of loss.
