The city of Atlanta is grieving the loss of one of its most iconic radio personalities, Wanda Smith, who passed away just one day after her birthday. Smith, who was a long-standing voice on V-103 radio, died on Saturday, as confirmed by the station’s Senior Vice President and Market Manager, Rick Caffey.
“Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of Wanda Smith, a person who always brought joy to those around her and was a significant part of the V-103 family for many years,” Caffey expressed in a heartfelt social media post. He also extended condolences to her family during this difficult time.

Known for her magnetic personality, she held her position for more than two decades, capturing the hearts of listeners with her humor, warmth, and down-to-earth approach. She took a brief break in 2013 but returned to co-host with Ryan Cameron in 2014. Smith remained a beloved voice on the air until 2019.
Outside of her radio career, Smith was a proud mother to her two sons, Giovanni and Tavares, with Tavares gaining recognition for his athletic accomplishments. She was also a doting grandmother to her granddaughter, Taylor, who brought her immense joy. Smith frequently shared her love for her family with her social media followers, giving her fans a glimpse into her personal life.
Wanda Smith’s final birthday celebration was marked by love and togetherness, surrounded by her close friends and family. Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of many who knew her personally and those who connected with her through the airwaves.
