We had the pleasure of sitting down with Mach 357, founder and CEO of The Evening Experience radio show, during the celebration of Latin Heritage Month. His journey into radio wasn’t the traditional route, but it’s one filled with passion and purpose.
“A friend of mine, Shawn Montgomery, was coming back to New York and told me he was starting a radio show. Since I was already a sales guy and knew how to talk to people, he thought I should join him,” Mach 357 recalls. Though his background was in business, it was the allure of radio personalities like Vaughn Harper, Lenny Green, Kool DJ Red Alert, and DJ Self that drew him into the industry. “They were the ones who really made me want to be a radio host,” he said, reflecting on how these icons shaped his ambitions.
When it comes to memorable interviews, Mach 357’s chat with Lisa Lisa stands out the most. “She told me she watched my show—that just threw me for a loop,” he laughs. “It was mind-blowing because you don’t expect someone you look up to, someone with her level of success, to say they’re tuning in to what you’re doing. She’s such a beautiful person, inside and out.”
DJ Self also made a lasting impression. “His story really hit home for me. He gave me a real behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to survive in this business—the hustle, the grind. It was all inspiring.”
For Mach 357, celebrating Latino Heritage Month goes beyond just the festivities. “It’s about recognizing our roots, our history, and everything we’ve contributed to the world. We’ve accomplished so much, and it’s important for the next generation to know that, to see what’s possible.”
Mach 357’s pride in his heritage is woven into his work. “As a Latin man in media, I’ve always felt the responsibility to represent and tell our stories. It’s not just about me—it’s about inspiring others who might be listening or watching. I want them to know they can make their mark too.”
Like many others, Mach 357 faced challenges during the pandemic, but he didn’t let it stop him. “I thrived because I didn’t sit still. I used technology to keep the show going. When everything shut down, I moved the platform to Instagram Live. It was tough getting the audience to adapt, but we made it happen.”
Looking back on his career, Mach 357 offers advice to aspiring radio hosts. “I’d tell my younger self to be fearless, to go all out, and to get help when you need it. Don’t try to do everything on your own.” For newcomers, he stresses the importance of preparation. “Know the tech, understand the software, and always come prepared with your research and questions.”
When he’s not in front of the mic, Mach357 enjoys some downtime at the shooting range or traveling. “It’s how I clear my head and stay focused,” he says.
Despite his success, Mach 357 admits that learning to delegate was one of the toughest challenges. “Trying to do it all was frustrating, but at the end of the day, it’s your responsibility to get things done.”
For his supporters, Mach 357 has a simple message: “Share, like, and comment. It helps boost the ratings and spread the word. We go live every Thursday from 7 PM to 9 PM on Instagram, and I appreciate everyone who tunes in.”
Looking to the future, Mach 357 has big dreams for The Evening Experience. “I want the show syndicated on a major radio station or even TV. That’s the ultimate goal. But for now, tune in every Thursday—you won’t want to miss the incredible guests we have lined up.”
Thank you for the opportunity to interview Mach 357 during the celebration of Latin Heritage Month. If you’re looking for a dynamic radio or TV show to add to your lineup, The Evening Experience is it.
