‘Solid’ marks Cut Copy’s first original offering since their critically acclaimed 2020 album, Freeze, Melt. While Freeze, Melt invited introspection through its atmospheric and restrained soundscapes, ‘Solid’ gently propels listeners forward with the band’s signature buoyant synths, delicate rhythmic progressions, and a lyrical core that resonates with both personal and universal experiences.

Initially conceived as an instrumental piece, ‘Solid’ found its voice during a moment of creative clarity. The track unfolds with understated textures – softly pulsing keys and mellow basslines – gradually expanding into a rich sonic tapestry of shimmering synth layers and tactile percussive elements. Frontman Dan Whitford shared his inspiration behind the song, stating, “I wrote the song as a reminder to myself that things will be ok, even when life gets turned on its head and it feels like there’s no way forward.
