Featuring Iconic Items from Music Legends, Including John Lennon Archives and Legendary Instruments
Eaton & Brennan are proud to announce a landmark auction event featuring the complete Hit Factory Entertainment Collection, marking the first time these legendary items will be available for sale. This incredible collection, sourced from the personal archives of Danielle Germano, daughter of the iconic Hit Factory founder Ed Germano, will be auctioned online starting November 13, and closing on December 4. The auction promises to be a dream come true for music history enthusiasts and collectors worldwide.
Auction Highlights:
The Baldwin Studio Piano from “Layla” Sessions:
Among the standout items in the collection is the Baldwin Studio Piano, an instrument with an unparalleled musical legacy. This piano played a key role in the creation of Eric Clapton’s Layla by Derek and the Dominoes, as well as the Allman Brothers’ Eat a Peach and Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Street Survivors. The 1960s-era piano, also played by music legends like Aretha Franklin and Ray Charles, is still in pristine condition and remains an essential part of rock history. Originally from Miami’s Criteria Studios, this piano became part of The Hit Factory’s treasure trove when the studio purchased the space in the late 1990s.
John Lennon Archives – Final Session Revelations:
The auction will also feature historical John Lennon archives, including a never-before-seen file marked as Lennon’s “Final Session” while recording Double Fantasy at The Hit Factory. This discovery sheds light on Lennon’s final days in the studio, offering new insights into his last recording location, a detail long shrouded in mystery. Additionally, the auction includes rare test pressings and acetates of Lennon’s Double Fantasy, a piece of music history from the legendary artist’s final album.
Largest Collection of RIAA Gold and Platinum Record Awards:
One of the most impressive aspects of this auction is the collection of hundreds of RIAA gold and platinum record awards, making it the largest collection of its kind ever to be sold. These awards celebrate the monumental successes of artists such as John Lennon, Madonna, The Rolling Stones, Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen, Mariah Carey, and many others. Each piece is a testament to the iconic albums and chart-topping hits that were born within the walls of The Hit Factory.
Rap and Hip-Hop Artifacts:
The auction also includes valuable Rap and Hip-Hop memorabilia, showcasing The Hit Factory’s influence in the genre during the 1990s. Notable items include the Hit Factory record award for The Notorious B.I.G.’s debut Ready to Die and original booking schedules from the studio’s New York location. These artifacts offer a rare glimpse into the production schedules and recording histories of some of the biggest names in music, many of which were once housed at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
This unparalleled collection will be available for online bidding from November 13 through December 4. Music history collectors and fans will have the opportunity to own a piece of rock and roll history.
