As the NFL Draft approaches, I can’t help but reflect on the past season. The Philadelphia Eagles are Super Bowl champions, and Jalen Hurts walked away as the game’s MVP—delivering one of the greatest performances in Super Bowl history.
And yet, he was never truly in the top-five quarterback conversation.
Why?
Because Hurts doesn’t fit the flashy, highlight-reel narrative. He’s calm, focused, and built to win. From college to the pros, his record speaks volumes: 38–4 as a college starter, over 120 total touchdowns, and a long list of awards—including Heisman runner-up and now Super Bowl MVP.
Still, critics point to his past, like being benched in the 2018 National Championship. But they ignored how he came back that same year and led Alabama to an SEC title. That’s resilience. That’s character.
It reminds me of Tim Duncan—the NBA legend known not for flash, but for greatness. Both Hurts and Duncan lead with quiet intensity, strong fundamentals, and a relentless drive to win. Neither chase the spotlight. They just deliver.
Hurts may not have five rings yet, but make no mistake: he’s building a Hall of Fame legacy. And just like Duncan, people may not fully appreciate him until it’s all said and done.
All he does is win—and he will be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Remember that.
