Nana Churcher: Inspiring Bigger Dreams and Giving Back Through Media, Faith, and Philanthropy

We enjoyed speaking with the phenomenal media personality and author, Ms. Nana Churcher. Known for her impactful presence in both the UK and the US, Nana’s work spans media, philanthropy, and authorship. Here’s what she shared with us:

What inspired you to start your philanthropic initiatives, and how do you balance this work with your other roles?

I live by the principle of giving—it’s more than just an action, it’s a way of life for me. Giving is love in motion; my philanthropic work is deeply rooted in this belief. The Bible teaches us to give, and one of my favorite verses, Luke 6:38, says, “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.” I embrace this wholeheartedly, and I can balance my giving with my other roles by partnering with charitable organizations that share these values.

You’ve interviewed many incredible guests throughout your career. Can you share who some of your favorite guests have been and any memorable experiences?

Wow, where do I begin? Every person I’ve interviewed has been important to me because each brings their own unique story. I’ve had so many beautiful and unforgettable experiences. As a proud Ghanaian, one of my highlights was interviewing Theodosia Salome Okoh, the woman who designed the Ghanaian flag. She walked me through the meaning behind the colors, and now, every time I see the flag, I can’t help but beam with joy.
From speaking with Congresswoman Maxine Waters to actress Regina Hall, costume designer Ruth E. Carter, gospel singers Erica Campbell and CeCe Winans, and many more, I’m constantly inspired by their passion and dedication. I feel truly blessed to have gained so much wisdom and powerful insights from these brilliant experiences over the years.

Can you tell us about your latest book and what inspired you to write it?

My latest book, Bigger Dreams, was born out of a desire to inspire others to tap into their potential. I believe God has placed unique gifts within each of us, and we are meant to use them to do extraordinary things. Every single person has greatness inside of them, and as we approach a new year, it’s the perfect time for all of us to rise and live out our dreams.

You split your time between London and Los Angeles. How has working in both cities influenced your career in media?

Great question! I love both London and Los Angeles for different reasons. Of course, the weather plays a part, haha, but my family is in London, so it holds a special place in my heart. Both cities have their own energy. In London, I get to work in more diverse and cosmopolitan communities, while in Los Angeles, I’ve immersed myself in the entertainment industry. Both cities have contributed to my growth over the years, and I’ve been fortunate to build meaningful relationships on both sides of the pond.

How does your role as a spiritual advisor inform your work in media and your approach to interviews?

I’m a believer in Jesus Christ, and I truly believe we are all wonderfully made to achieve our dreams. Each guest who appears on The Nana Churcher Show has a story to tell, and I believe their stories help ignite greatness in others. I see this as part of my purpose—helping others realize their potential.

What advice would you give to someone who looks up to you and wants to follow in your footsteps as a TV host and media personality?

My advice to anyone pursuing a dream of becoming a TV host or media personality is simple: Go after your bigger dreams! But first, take time to search your soul and be 100% sure this is your purpose. Know why you want to pursue this path. If it’s just for fame, it won’t last. But if you’re driven by the desire to make a positive impact on others, you’re in it for the long haul.
Write down your vision and commit it to the Lord. Stay disciplined, persistent, and consistent. Find great mentors, network with the right people, and love what you do. Always affirm yourself with positive words, celebrate your wins, and celebrate others too. Be kind, never look down on anyone, and above all, stay true to who you are.
