Selena Gomez, who began her career as a child star on “Barney & Friends” and Disney Channel shows, has now reached billionaire status. The 32-year-old singer and actress has built a personal fortune of $1.3 billion, according to Bloomberg, which recently added her to its billionaire index.
The majority of her wealth stems from her successful beauty line, Rare Beauty, which she launched five years ago. Bloomberg estimates her stake in the company to be worth over $1 billion. This achievement places Gomez among the youngest female self-made billionaires, alongside notable names such as Taylor Swift and Rihanna.
Rare Beauty, famous for its viral products like liquid blush and lip tint, reportedly generated $400 million in net sales during the 12 months leading up to February. Additionally, Gomez has earned tens of millions from high-profile endorsement deals with brands like Louis Vuitton, Coach, and Puma, according to Bloomberg.
Her acting career also contributes to her earnings, with Bloomberg reporting she earned at least $6 million per season for her role in the Hulu series *Only Murders in the Building*, which has been renewed for a fifth season. However, her acting and musical accomplishments represent only a small portion of her overall wealth.
Gomez, originally from Texas, has spent nearly 30 years in the spotlight, where her fame has attracted attention to her fashion choices, personal life, and health struggles, including her battles with lupus and bipolar disorder. She has also spoken about her family’s immigration story from Mexico, starting with her aunt’s journey hidden in the back of a truck, and her connection to her heritage through music in Spanish.
Last year, Gomez became the most-followed woman on Instagram, surpassing 424 million followers, ahead of Taylor Swift and Kylie Jenner.
